Look for me Around Town

With the holiday season quickly approaching, I will be making my way around to local shows and stores if you wanted to come out and see me. I have increased my jewelry collection by 10 fold and have many new hubcaps to offer. Here is where to find me in the upcoming months....
October 4: (9am-3pm) Ijams Fall Plant Sale
October 31:(11am-5pm) Pumpkinfest in Oak Ridge at the Grove Center Shopping
area.
November 6:(5pm-Close) Mast General Store for First Friday

You can find my jewelry at Ijams Nature Center in the gift shop and at Unarmed Merchant on Gay St. all the time, so stop in and find a treat for yourself or others.

Also, since this is the time of year to start thinking about gifts for others, why not have a jewelry party and learn how to create incredible homemade jewelry- it's fun and easy... and the possibilties are endless with what you can create.

For more information about jewelry parties or personal jewelry shopping appointments, contact me at (865) 684-7466 or at Lilysjb@hotmail.com .

And the Winner is....

Thanks to everyone that contributed to the great turn out that we had for Ijams Symphony in the Park last Sunday. The weather was perfect, the music was superb, and a lot of money was raised for a good cause. The winner of my painted rain barrel was none other than the TN state Senator herself, Jamie Woodson, who placed the winning bid during the live auction. And, the winner of the "Girls Just Want to Have Fun" jewelry party with food and wine was Jennifer Moore and friends!! Thanks to all who helped out and made this Symphony a great one!!

Hubcap Heaven during the months of August and September

Look for hubcaps everywhere during the months of August and September in both Knox and Blount County.

  • For the month of August, Unarmed Merchant (located on Gay St. Next to Nama) will be hosting both my hubcap and jewelry collection, with the art opening starting on First Friday ( August 7). All pieces will be available for purchase... They make great conversation pieces and gifts for friends and relatives!!!!

  • Also, in September, the hubcaps will be moving to the Blount Co. Library where they will be on display for the entire month. Look for new pieces!

Check out my abstract green "Atomic" hubcap which is currently located at the Urban Bar in the Old City... proceeds from the sale of that hubcap go for a great cause: Random Acts of Flowers- which brightens the lives of people in hospitals and nursing homes!!

For more information on any of the upcoming events or pieces of artwork, contact me at lilysjb@hotmail.com or (865) 684-7466.

Some of my creations!!!

Rain Barrel Bonanza!

It is finally finished!! This rainbarrel was commissioned by workers at TVA to be presented as a retirement gift for one of their long time employees and I am happy to say that I am proud to have painted this piece for them. I put many hours into this rain barrel and love the end result. When given alot of freedom, it takes me awhile to hone in on what I want to portray, because there are so many choices. But all in all, the coutry scene never looked so beautiful.

Rain Barrel for the Rainy Day Brush-off

Spring showers are just around the corner, and what goes better with a little rain than a rain barrel. Rain barrels are a wonderful way to save yourself alot of money on gardening and lawn maintenence since you are using what Mother Nature is providing. You place the barrels on the down spout of your guttering system and it catches the rain water as it runs off your roof. On average, one inch of rain running off from a 1,500 square foot house equals 935 gallons of water, filling 16 rain barrels or 13 bathtubs! That goes along way when it comes to saving all that money on watering your lawn.

The Water Quality Forum is having their second annual Rainy Day Brush-off event where artists from all over Knoxville are painting these rain barrels to go on display at businesses all over town and then be put up for auction on E-Bay starting in May. It is a great event for a great cause and I have been happy to create a barrel of my own. It took me awhile to even come up with an idea, but once I did, the painting process went pretty smoothly from then on out. Since we are near the Smokies, and I can usually see these from my drive everyday, I had lots of inspiration right outside. I hope you enjoy the rain barrel and look for it and others throughout Knoxville. There will be rain barrels to buy at Earthfest this year... look for our booth.

Newly posted hubcap photos!

Though I am still trying to figure this blog site out, I am happy to say that I did end up posting some of the hubcap pictures up here. This will hopefully be updated frequently once I get into the groove and paint my little heart out onto my hubcaps once more. I am looking to be inspired so if anyone has any scenes or ideas that they would like to see painted onto a hubcap, I would love to hear any suggestions.

Another exciting event has presented itself to me and it is that I will be one of Knoxville's First Friday Artists that will be on display at Mast General Store on May 1st. Everyone should come out and visit me!!

All the hubcaps I have are for sale, so if you are interested you may contact me at lilysjb@hotmail.com

Welcome to my first blog on my Creative Spaces page. I am highly excited about getting to share my artwork and other creations with you. I have been working on my hubcap art since I was in college, though it started as a high school game of "Who can find the coolest hubcap on the side of the road?" These roadside treasures became my wall decorations for all of my college years at Berea College, in KY, much to the dismay of my roommate. But at least they turned colorful pretty quickly. From there, these basic colors turned into scenes, objects, and abstract designs. It wasn't until recently that they moved from my own private collection in the back room of my house to a place where others may see it....All thanks to Ijams, who let me set up a display of them in the hallway.

The pictures of my hubcap art, drawings, and jewelry will be posted soon.
